Why do pens stop working?

puffff

Platinum Member
there i was, on a payphone talking to an airline about my plane tickets, when all of the sudden my pen stops working. and there's clearly ink left. why put all that ink in the pen if the pen isnt gonna last that long?!?!

You know i'm no expert but if you look down the center of that tube i think you might find a hollow tube with blue or black stained sides. It's also possible that whatever's left has dried solid, or possibly a combination of both.

Also hold the pen vertically between both hands, then "spin" the pen quickly by moving your hands back and fore real quick.

Try writing on another piece of paper, most pens magically start working on another surface, then you can return to your scribbling.

I don't use cheap pens, I never have that problem.

The reason is cheap pens use inferior ink, that turns into "miracle mud" at the ball point tip over time, causing no liquid ink to be able to get to the ball to be transfered.

Try switching to better pens like the Zebra F series pens.

Air pocket. Try slapping the pen downwards to force the ink past the pocket or sometimes taking a lighter to the tip of the pen for a few seconds works.

i second the 'slapping'

smack that b!tch up!

here's how to fix it. take a lighter, burn the ball, it is a ball point right?

do it for a few seconds. and it'll work.

trust me

Or the tip shoots off and ink goes everywhere.

an airbubble could be stuck in your pen. try holding the tip it in a flame for a few seconds. that usually fixes it.
