Why do people always say "what kinda of crack are those people smoking" when they do something bad? It is so stupid because the behavior of a crack user is far different than the behavior of the person they apply it to.

Crack is such a wonderful word, it deserves the coverage it gets here at the forums.
It's so multifaceted, so versatile.
Not only is the term crack used to describe crack cocaine, but also the "crack of dawn" and "wise crack". Matter of fact, in Irish, crack means fun and amusement.
Although the word is derived from Middle English "craken" or Old English "cracian", which means to break or shatter, the word is used to describe someone who is an expert, like a "crack shot" or a "crack detective". It is used to describe a repress or restrain, as in a "crack down". If you break into a safe, you "crack" it. You "crack" a whip. We eat "cracked corn", or make bread from "cracked wheat". Our sidewalks have "cracks" and if we step on thenm, we break our poor mother's back. We "crack" RC5 code and SETI data. Our asses have cracks.... I could go on and on......
