Why do PC gamepads suck so much?

Ugh..

They are never responsive enough.. and the d-pads never work as well as console ones, to the point where playing fighting games is impossible because they are not precise enough to get the movies off.

I always have the problem of them getting confused, sometimes you press right but it registers as up and right, or down and right.

Pfft. I wish there was a better solution.. some things just dont work well with keyboard and mouse.

Yeah but then you need to deal with keyboard emulation and its not guarenteed (sp?) to work with everything.

Says anything with direct input in the games wont work.

I need something with native pc support that will register as a gamepad, have analog sticks, and work with everything.

Do those show up as controlers and can you just configure them in the games, or do you need to get special software and all that crap?

i'll pass. but that just proves my point. in order to get a good controler for the pc you need to solder stuff.

Yup, i know what you mean.

I am about to break out the soldering iron and try to do this myself, I need a decent gamepad for my PC!

Logitech Wingman Rumblepad is decent.

I like playing FPSes/RPGs/Warcraft/C&C type games, why do mouse/keyboard support on consoles suck so hard?

Maybe it depends on the type of game what is better? For kids and adults with < 14yrs mental age there are the consoles, for the rest of us there are PCs 😛
