Why do P&N Threads Read Like Fox News?

If people here were only half as refined as they portray themselves in these little circus threads, I think the discussions would be a lot more interesting, and would have a desirable lack of Fox News-esque sensationalism.

Discuss.

Because a lot of people here, much like FOX news, are not actually interested in rational and sober discussion.

I think we have a very strong core of P&N members, say 50 or so, who do engage in meaningful discussions on a daily basis.

Sometimes it gets heated, but this is usually started by a handful(10 or less) members who basically have nothing to contribute, ever, and do their best just to troll and get people emotionally excited.

Sorry to sound so cynical but after years of posting here it's more than obvious it would be a waste of time and effort.

Politics almost always excites strong emotional reactions in pretty much everyone who's paying attention, and the Internet allows for an outlet for emotion that's virtually consequence free. I have no doubt that the type of P&N posters you're talking about would love to act like they do here in real life, the only problem is that someone would punch them in the face before they made it through the day.

From my observation, people want to chime in on every subject with their spin, whether or not it's legitimate or needs to be talked about. Fox News does the same. I honestly think a lot of people post here too much. Maybe I post too little, but then again, it shows that I actually care to put my two cents in on some subject.

How about this on for size? Is there a better place to post? I've fund most posts in here getting dull and rather boring to say the least. Any place where we don't have the retarded hero posting? Hmmm, is there such an elite mecca forum?

To be honest, this is a very bad political forum. There are a lot better ones on the net. Do a search.

I browse the P&N section occasionally, but I'm usually driven to visit this site for computer related interests.

fox news is a lightweight compared to the local NBC channel. holy cow are they sensationalist. and they (used to, at least) used far too much computer graphics. at least they had hot anchors.
