Uh, because I like the cake, cookies and all the cool stuff they make.

In case I misread your question, I don't celebrate Christmas myself (Muslim) in my house, but I don't turn down invitations either.

Nothing wrong with having a reason to spend time with family and friends, regardless of the origins of the day off... Whether it is religously celebrated or not is up to you and yours, but there's no sense in ruining what it might be to someone else by questioning it...

I don't celebrate it religiously. But I do participate.

Maybe I'm celebrating the Winter Solstice.

Because it's no longer strictly a religious holiday. It's about being with family, showing love, and good will. :)

Or you could be celebrating Winter-een-mas.

winter solstice festivals are far older than christ.

heck, the deity's birthday being dec 25 was adopted from the cult of mithras.

The corporate machine commercialized the holiday. 95% of Christmas now has absolutely nothing to do with religion.

Edit: Since I used the term "corporate machine", I'm obligated to include these other terms to balance it out: sheeple, Big Oil, Neocon, bleeding heart, welfare state, and Mexifornia. Maybe this will attract some of the P&N crowd who do searches for those keywords.

I enjoy lighting up my little corner of the world, it cuts the bleakness of winter.I also enjoy being able to do all sorts of nice things for my family and friends. This is also the time of year for some reflection, rembering people, places, experiences from christmas past
and setting of goals for the new year.

 December 25 may not have it's roots in Christianity, but the celebration of Christmas sure does.

I celebrate it (or the holidays, rather) because it's the time of year during which you can buy gifts for people, and generally eat, drink, and be merry... and not get looked at funny for it!

It's a cultural tradition. It holds no religious signifigance for me. For me, it's a holiday to brighten the winter months, commune with family and friends, have great food and give of yourself.

When I see a classic Christmas Tree, I am taken back to warm memories of family and love.
