Why do ninjas always get bad reps?

Seriously, I think ninjas have always get bad reps. In pop culture. In cinema. In literature. In gaming...

In WOW, if someone steal a loot, they're called ninjas. Even the current economic mess, some of it are blamed on ninjas (or no income, no job, assets).... WTF? Ninjas never get any breaks.

Not all ninjas are strictly assassins, nor are they all for hire. The ninja of yore was more like a secret agent. Most true modern ninjas don't even call themselves ninjas.

The pirates vs ninjas argument, while entertaining, is flawed. Ninjas would infiltrate the ranks of the pirates, then take them out at the most opportune time. There are no "armies" of ninjas. Ninjas are specialized, and usually are lone agents.

Every time there is a thread on ninjas, it stimulates the economy by displaying more ads. For this reason alone, I always vote pro-ninja and write to my Congresspeople regularly to encourage them to support ninja rights.
