Why do new tires have those little fingers on them?

The fingers are actually from where the rubber goes in and air goes out. If they weren't there, there'd be no way to ever mold the tire. It's kind of like trying to fill a bottle with the cap on.

Not true IMO, Tyres are not always injection molded ...

As far as i have seen, rubber is placed in the mold, the mold is closed and pressure and heat are applied...

I remember being in a tyre factory when I was a kid....it smelled sooo good in there. :p

actually tires have those yellow and blue lines over em to see if they're new...
