Why do my speakers make random noises?

not sure why, but it seems to happen only when there is no sound coming out of the speakers. Usually lasts no more than 5 seconds, then goes away for a few minutes. Happens even after I turn the volume all the way down.

Yep. The charger for my old cellphone was right next to my tv, and all night long whenever it was sending or receiving it would make the tv buzz and chirp. If I sat it next to the computer speakers, they would do the same thing.

Weird. Probably along the same lines as computer sounds coming out of my guitar amp...

It does that in the car if I leave my phone in the cup holder\ near the receiver

My old nextel was really bad about this. My old CRT would freak out a split second before it rang.
