Why do Millionaires commit suicide, but homeless people fight to survive?

I've always wondered why people w/lots of resources at their disposal commit suicide, while homeless people thrive living on the street?

Your thoughts?

homeless people are more used to dealing with problems. A rich person is used to not having problems. Put them both in a bad situation, the homeless person is more able to cope. The rich person would be more likely to end it.

I didn't know so many millionaires commit suicide. I would have thought that more homeless people would die than Millionaires.

Hey its good for the government, they get a lot when a rich guy dies, but have to pay when a homeless person does.

You don't hear about the homelss people who commit suicide or the millionaires who love their lives. I also suspect that a good percentage of the very rich have for most of their lives felt that being rich will somehow fill a void and when they finaly realise that it won't they decide to end it.

Yeah, I never really noticed an epidemic of rich people committing suicide either. I suppose that if a rich person did commit suicide it would get more media attention than if a homeless person did it, making it seem like more rich people kill themselves.

Some people base their personal value on the amount of money they have/social status. Without money to define them, they feel they are nothing.

Millionaires don't commit suicide. Their heirs murder them to get at the money and just make it look like a suicide.

Agreed. Have you EVER heard on the news that a homeless person committed suicide?

They actually sort of fade away & die very young, it's a slow suicide & they're usually mentally ill.

Its news when a millionaire commits suicide, it is not when a homeless person does. You hear about the former, you do not hear about the latter.

Your perceptions are kinda all goofy.

Also a lot of homeless people are not "fighting to survive," they're drifting through life and survivng only because America is so rich in resources that our scraps and handouts are enough to keep the idle scavengers alive.

(Not all homeless people are literally lazy bums of course, but a large number are.)

you know what they say about idle hands.

there is a basic survival instinct in all of us, when we run out of things to do, that survival instinct gets blunted by boredom.

homeless people kill themselves, they're just not rich enough and thus important enough for you to hear about it

that's true, but then again, how often do homeless people get on the news anyways??

With the 10 oclock news only being 30 minutes, they have only room for 1: either the rich famous guy, or the poor guy in a box......

It is still better to be rich and unhappy than poor and unhappy.
