Why don't Mexicans just drive across the border into the U.S.?
Can't they "visit" the U.S. like we drive down to visit Mexico?
It seems like they could just cross the border legally then just stay here? The ones who cross illegaly seem to have little problem staying away from being found out while they work their off the books jobs.
Is there some process in place that prevents this?
Someone mentioned this to me today and I really don't know.
So does anyone know the specifics for Mexicans who want to "visit" and if they "visit" couldn't they just stay?

Because both democrats and republicans are selling our nation out and are too weak to control the border.

Mexicans can't just cross the border whenever they want, don't you think they might've thought of that, say, oh 30 years ago? Come on..

A) They can't just "drive across." ha ha
B) They can make so much more money here they can support their whole families in Mexico even with low wage jobs. Would you risk a trip across a desert for a $1000/ hr job? I bet many would, look at all those contractors in Iraq...

You guys are not reading what he stated at all.

What he is asking is, Why don't Mexicans go and get a passport, then cross into America with their passport claiming a short visit, but then stay illegally instead. That way they get in safely but once they are in, go IA.

Now edit your posts and answer his question :)

Oh and BTW one reason might be because their passports cost them about $40 USD.. not sure how much that is to them right now, but it's prolly a lot knowing how much they get paid down there.

Well, I have been to both Canada and Mexico a few times. (Nogales and Vancouver) Every time I crossed the border into either country it was like a got a red carpet with rose pettals on it ("come on in!!!!!!!!" attitude), coming back I always got asked for papers and always hit with stupid questions (What was your purpose, what did you buy, do you have anything with you to declare)

I never got asked for anything other than where i was going when I went to Juarez. When I went to Manitoba I just got told to have fun. Coming back they just asked who I was. I guess I have an honest face or just got lucky. Costa Rica, and Panama were a whole other ballgame. They asked me where I was going, who I was, and how I can be reached, and other things, I was a little scared both times.

Werd. We are super paranoid, especially after 9/11.
