I saw this at the book store the other day and it was full of crazy but interesting questions. I'd recommend picking it up for a few minutes at least.

Because a foetus effectively starts off as female then develops into a male at a later stage of development.

Next question?

Mens breasts can actually produce milk, just as womens can.

Men do not have mammory glands or ducts and therefore cannot produce milk.
wrong.

I suggest you research gender re-assignment. Giving female hormones to male-to-female transsexuals has the side effect of them lactating.

Yes it is. It's a man with tits who's lactating. He's still XY, therefore, a man.

The male mammory gland is non-functioning. They do have them, though.

That's the scary thing, cause the answers is actually yes.

My wife found an article on a tribe in Africa where men have often nursed their own children. With the mortality rate being *so high* there, young children often do not have a mother to feed them. Although the man doesn't naturally use the milk ducts, he does have a few.

Kind of freaky to me, as I think any child that tried to nurse off me would choke to death on a hairball first.

I think the reasons why we have nipples is because everyone starts off at a base model whether you are male or female. If you are female your breasts develop and mature, but if your male you dont. Basically we have underdevelop breasts. On the flip side females even have organs where a penis would mature if they were male. But if they are female it doesnt mature and is something else all other males should be familiar with.

of course the nipple thing is my own speculation, but the thing about the penis is true.

all fetuses start off as female in the womb. When exposed to estrogen (yes estrogen) in the womb, a fetus developes male characteristics afterwards
