Why do medical names have to be so blasted complex?

What is the deal that doctors have to come up with such whacked out names for stuff? I realize some of it is based off of Latin, but my gosh, the names they come up with for stuff is just insane.

acetylthiocholine? lactacidemia? lactobacillaceae??

Sheesh. Sounds like someone playing word scramble and just doing some lucky dipping in the letter bag to see what weird name they can come up with this time. Sheesh.

Would you respect the doctor if he called medicines by a descriptive non-technical name like "funny-smelling stuff that puts you to sleep?" :D

The names might be complex, but I would imagine it helps the doctor remember which is which. Plus, it makes you look cool if you can pronounce them correctly. ;)

It is a way to make more money. If you can buy a OTC drug cheaper than a perscription with a complicated name, then the drug companies don't make as much. It is up to YOU to do the research.

The FDC is EXTREMELY corrupt, and was bought out by the drug companies a long time ago. Until America wakes up, they will keep releasing crutches instead of cures.

Why do people jump to conspiracy theories when they are faced with their lack of knowledge or background on a subject?

I took organic chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, etc courses and at no time did any of my professors say anything like "Oh yeah we could call this molecule "charlie" but you as a doctor will earn more money if we call it Interferon II".

HAHAHA. Tell me about it. The whole US Fed Gov is owned by the big corps, drug companies, etc. It's not who you know anymore or who you stand for, but who's payroll you're on. :D
