Ok so I have a macbook and I use parallels for vista. I also have a desktop running vista. This is a very noob question but why does OSX look a lot cleaner? I guess what I'm trying to say is that things on OSX look sharper, the edges look nice, and even fonts look smoother. Vista looks nice, but it still has weird borders and doesn't look as smooth. Almost as if OSX is running at a higher resolution (they both are running at the same res btw).

For example. I have firefox 3 beta 4 and i have to say that the OSX version looks waaay better than the vista version.

Hmm.. on a strictly pixel level, Windows looks pretty much identical to OS X to me. Maybe I'm missing something. On aesthetics, though, OS X is leaps ahead of Windows. :D

Apple's Application Design constraints and how they try to make all the applications look similar. Also, the Aqua interface is designed to do just that, make everything smooth, sharp, and nice.

I found windows programs to have conformed better to a common UI. I've used some os x software that just isn't quite as fluid.

But I'm pretty sure the OP is speaking to the fact virtualization doesn't give you the full graphic capabilities. There's no AA whatsoever, so fonts especially look bad.

i have to say i have noticed this a bit, though it could just be my friends dell 24inch and the fact hes using VGA to run it, but on his vista it definately looks a little fuzzy round the edges... like its softly focused. on my mac everythings pin sharp and smooth.

again, i reckon if he could use DVI it'd be better, but his laptop doesnt have such a feature.

Vista looks much better on my iMac than OS X 10.5 does. I think that Aero is pretty amazing.

Make sure you compare them on similar monitors.

The Macbook pro monitors are high res, small viewable
and have a hefty amount of contrast.

Load Vista on your Macbook from Bootcamp and
re-evaluate.

I personally like my ubuntu setup much better in terms of aesthetics. I'd put mac next then vista in terms of what I think looks the best. In terms of integration, I like the mac's I've used the best, then vista, then ubuntu. This is because I still like some kde apps for things, and they just do not look like they fit in with the gnome environment.
