Why do lost things always seem to be in the last place you look?

So, you like lose your keys at home. You look everywhere, and then finally, in the last place you think of looking for them, there they are.

WTF is up with that? There's gotta be some kind of eponymous law that describes this. But what is the reason behind it?

Some forget what they are looking for and some may just not be that smart.

WTF. That is what I have been missing for my whole life. I always kept looking, so nothing was ever in the last place I looked :(. Why didn't someone tell me I could stop? They should teach THIS in school, not chemistry.

Because, DUH, if they were in the FIRST place you looked, it'd STILL be the LAST place you look...

The answer is to continue looking after you've found the lost item, then it's no longer in the last place you looked.
