I was just in the locked post about Dezign's pictures and even those trying to remain anonymous it seems....some lifer comes in and is like "Lee" or "Tom" or "Ivy" etc....

Chances are no one else will know who the F that is. Someone says Chris, they aren't going to know you are talking about me probably as Alkemyst and even if they did, if I wanted to be known as 'Chris' here I would sign each message as Chris (this is just an example of course, it doesn't bother me personally, but many many people don't want there real lives known).

Are they just trying to say 'Hey look at me look at who I know' or what?

I'm not a lifer but if and when I become one, I don't plan to name drop. I don't know anyone's names, unless it's their username or they sign their post with their name.

Well of course they are. While you use it for fun, many people on Anandtech have used the site for ages, and built close relationships with people who have the same interests and loads in common with them. It's natural that they should be on first name terms. Hell, people even have regular meetings, whether it be LAN parties or whatever. I don't see why it should bother a person unless they are exceptionally small-minded and petty.

I don't know if you're just joking or not, but that's the symbol for Angstroms.

I don't use my real name, because way too many people on this board are named Chris.

Heck, too many people in this thread are named Chris. ;)

wait, are you calling ME "small minded and petty?"
i said "fascinates" in a purely positive way! trust me, i'm sure i can relate more to 90% of you people over most of my close or even closest friends! just the forum medium is kinda hard, and i don't pay too much attention to who's posting what, but rather what they post- the content.

Jonathan, I can't believe that you're slighting Rachel like that. If she only knew how much you did this Andrew would have your ASS.

Nope, I wasn't calling you small minded and petty, I was just referring to it in a general way and using your post to start my own off. Peace.
