Why do I sleep late every morning?

I always say I'm going to get up at 7 and have time to spare every morning. But every day I hit snooze until 7:30 and run out of the door late. I'm 28 years old, get plenty of sleep, when am I going to stop? Ahh...I guess I'll never be a morning person...

I'm kind of the same way. Not sleep deprived, but I always press it in the morning.

It's because you don't really like your job and don't look forward to waking in the morning.

That would be the obvious guess but I honestly don't dislike like my job. I've been this way my whole life. My mom worked 60 hours a week (before forced retirement) but slept late every morning, must be genetic. Dad's a morning person, go figure...

I'm just like that. I get 7-8 hours of sleep every night including weekends, I even wake myself up at 7am on weekends just to maintain a consistent sleep schedule and after almost a year of this I am still a lazy bastard in the morning and wanna go back to bed as soon as I get up. I usually snooze my alarm clock for up to half an hour before I actually get up too. It sucks 🙁

Exact opposite. I go to bed at 2am most days and spring up fully awake to the first buzz of the alarm at 7:00 am. Then on my days off I set it to 9:00 and still end up waking up around 7. 🙁

Hmm ... I always wake up as late as I can without being late. I hate the morning.

I start work at 9, It takes me about 30 to 40 minutes to drive there ... and yet I am almost never up before 7:45am
On my days Off ... I often sleep until noon (though I generally am up until 5 or 6 am the nights when I don't work in the morning)

I don't think I will ever even remotly be a morning person.

I hate mornings. I'm suprised my alarm clock has survived this long. It has to be at least 10 years old. Just recently I added an extra alarm clock and put it out of arms reach. A failsafe if you will to make sure I don't sleep in too long.

that's what I do. it's nice.

I go to bed at 5 or 6 am and don't need to set an alarm clock because I know there's no way I'll sleep past 2 pm (I work 4 - 12).

im like this too. i always set my alarm like a half hour early so i can push the snooze button a couple times. that way i can get that satisfied feeling of waking up and being able to fall back asleep because it just feels so damn good. who cares if its only for 9 minutes each time i press the button, but it feels great!

I've been in nocturnal mode for the past 5 days and I must admit I kinda like it. I'm asleep during the day and awake during the night. When I go on the freeway the roads are clear as day. I don't have a job so I don't have any obligations...haha. I'm on winter break for school right now. It would be tight if there was a city or a school in which everything operated at night instead of during the day. Just a thought.

my current alarm clock has a huge crack on the top of it, and its pretty thick plastice too, my previous 2 clocks both had to be put to rest after I smashed them to bits in my sleep.

Now here's a concept that has always escaped me.

Given the choice of either sleeping soundly until I must get up, or getting woken up twice (or more) before I have to, I'm going to sleep until it's time to get up. The sleep - awaken - hit snooze - sleep - awaken - hit snooze(...) seems only to give you less sleep.

I do the sleep, wake, sleep, wake cycle at least half a dozen times before I wake up. I do it primarily because I've never been able to get up the first time.

I actually love mornings, but I hate getting up. I can't remember a single time that I've woken up early feeling refreshed. That must be a wonderful feeling...

its like 10 total seconds you are sleeping less, maybe a minute. it is just so i don't have that feeling of waking up at 8:15 and being like "oooh man i dont wanna get up im so tired."

if i wake up at 7:45 instead and am like "oooh man i don't wanna get up im so tired ... wait, i can push snooze and sleep more!!" i don't feel any MORE tired than if i got that extra 30 mins of sleep. if i were to get up at 9am i would feel the same as i do right at 7:45 when i wake up. hell, i feel that way on the weekends if i set my alarm at 10am to get up.

If you are me, you dread getting up only to go to work 30 minutes later.

Start exercising. That will help...really it will.
