Why do I periodically lose connectin on my WiFi?

I have the SMC barricade and a sony (orinoco silver) card. I periodically loose connection for no reason. I'd have to unplug both the card and the barricade to reset it then it'd work again. Is this a problem with the SMC or the Sony?

Could be a number of reasons... interference being one of them. Happens to me all the time on my laptop... weird thing is it never happens to me on my desktop which is on wireless too... ...just release and renew so you don't have to plug it in and out.

I only use wireless on my laptop so I don't know if my issue is laptop only. How do you release and reconnect? I clicked on the network icon and hit refress/renew ...and nothing happens. Even if I unplug the card and replug it, nothing happens. It only works if I unplug the SMC, unplug the card and re-plug the entire thing.
