I'm using a standard paradyne dsl modem on a 512/112kb connection and everytime the phone rings or someone goes to make a phone call i have to unplug and repair my connection. Is this do to a poor connection on my end?

You did use a DSL filter on the line the phone is plugged in to right? Thats one thing I can think of that would cause the problem. Could be a poor connection, but sounds like it's getting a lot of interference from the phone itself.

The filters only prevent the phones from hearing the DSL data transmission. There's no reason it should do that even without filters installed. Call your DSL provider and get them to check it out. I am assuming something is wrong with the modem. Sounds like the ringer voltage is making the modem lose it's connection.
