Why do I like my music loud? Is it genetic? Am I weird? WHY???

Seriously. At middle age, I still don't get it. I have to deal with SO MUCH crap with neighbors, significant others...and of course, the Police.

I am not hard of hearing. As part of my PHA, I get my hearing testing every year. I have perfect hearing in both ears.

But when it comes to tunes, and it doesn't matter what genre; if I like the song, I like it LOUD. Lots of bass, lots of clarity. I like bangiing my head (you young guys don't know what that is) I like dancing, I like playing air guitar...all of it.

I know I'm not the only one that likes loud tunes...but I sure as hell seem to be the only one that the cops bang on his door.

I agree; if it's too loud, you're too old!

headphones are your friends. sometimes i listen with headphones and a sub. obviously bass is the worst for going through walls, so it doesn't help that much, but better than nothing if it's late.

As long is its not played prior to Noon, Lound music is my friend. I fscking hate those mofo's who blast their beats in the morning though. It really pisses me off.

I used to listen to music really loud, then when I started having hearing problems, I started turning the volume down a notch. :( But some music just doesn't sound good unless it registers on the Richter scale. :D

I'm the other way around. I hate loud noise and loud music. I keep my computer speakers at about 15% and the radio at about 5%.

I like peace and quiet.

It might have to do with your personality. For example I consider myself a considerate person. (Open doors for others, tries to be quiet when other people are sleeping, try to put other people's comforts before my own.) I listen to my music quietly. I can't stand it when it's turned up... Sometimes is okay

My brother however is the complete opposite, doesn't care about other people. Doesn't realize my mom has work at 8:00 in the morning and plays music full blast all night. He likes loud music.

Interesting, I am just like you.. quiet, reserved, polite and considerate when around other people, but when i'm at home, i need to have music loud !

I used to just hear music.. Now i listen for every nuance, every subtle effect.. It's wierd how much more a song comes together when you hear the whole thing like your supposed to.. like guitar sounds going from one speaker to the other.. bass reflected into different areas of the room.. little things like that. You can't appreciate those things on most systems unless its kinda loud.

Yeah, people bitch at me when they get into my car after I last drove it. My music is insanely loud. I guess I don't notice how loud it really is. I just keep turning it up.

The latter sounds just like my roommate. He slams doors...VERY hard. He plays his music so loud that I can hear it through 2 closed doors. I am very surprised that we haven't recieved noise complaints from the other people in my apartment complex.

I like to play music in my car loud, but in the apartment, I keep it low.
