Why do I like "Man on Fire" so much?

JC: I'm going to do what I do best. I'm going to kill them. Anyone who profited from it. Anyone who opens their eyes at me.

Cutting off fingers and ears... blowing up dudes with ass-bombs.

Having Christopher Walken in it didn't hurt either. Loved his description of an artist. "Creasey's art is death. And he's about to paint his masterpiece."

Other than that it's a run of the mill, generic, revenge movie. But still... :hmm:

Never seen it but I really think Denzel is overrated. He can be very good ( see Philadelphia ) but more often than not he overacts. Or is just in plain bad films.

I need to watch this movie again.

And Loc, don't forget Glory. In fact, I'd almost forgotten Glory until I read your post. Need to add that to the rewatch list as well!

I thought this movie was atrocious. And I went in ready to like it because I was hooked on Denzel.

Cliche up the ass, couldn't stand Dakota Fanning, and I ended up not caring for the plot after being fed up with cheesy 'SERIOUS' flashbacks and typical alcoholism.

IMO Denzel's badassery is at its finest on:

Training Day
The Inside Man
Remember the Titans
American Gangster

Even John Q. I don't know why people loved his acting so much in Glory. He played a very small part and acting wasn't anything special "oh noes I'm being whipped!"

I enjoyed the movie a lot. Sure it was a standard movie formula and over stylized in that Tony Scott way...but it was pure BADASS.
