Why do I have to reset the modem?

I use Kazaa, a file sharing service, on one of the win98 SE computers in my home network and everytime I use it other computers in the network can not access the internet. I have to reset the cable modem's connection to restore internet access to the network after each time I use Kazaa. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?
