Why Do I have to Reset my WRT54G Router every few Hours AFTER Using Bit Comet?

OVERKILL

After shutting down Bit Comet, my internet is extremely slow.
Resetting the router speeds up my interent tremendously.
I'm using a WRT54G V 2.0 with the Satori-4.0 v2.07.1.7sv Firmware.
I've tried the latest Linksys firmware with the same results.
Any idea whats causing the slowdowns and what i can do to properly fix it?
Thanks ahead.

Go to DD-WRT website. Download latest firmware which is v23 release version. After upgrading your firmware, go to Administration page and scroll down to the "IP Filter Settings". Put in these settings:

Maximum ports: 4096
TCP Timeout: 120 or 90
UDP Timeout: 120 or 90

It's a well known problem with the router tracking dead connections opened by your bittorrent application.

u can set it to upto reboot after X seconds in admin keep alive if you want to ensure connect. seettings are saved. set bittorrent to bulk in qos, set the bandwidth to 80%

The above setting does just that essentially. It kills off TCP and UDP connections after 90 seconds (or 120 seconds depnds on your setting) of inactivity without having to reboot your router.
