I get extremely tired after I eat a meal. To the point where I just have to take a nap or I'll pass out doing whatever I'm doing. Whats going on?

Your body shift all the energy to your digestive system, plus a dose of insulin from pancreas makes you sleepy.

You're thinking of L-tryptophan, a natural sedative. It's a normal constituent of turkey flesh, and often viewed as the cause of a certain sleepiness common to the post-turkey Thanksgiving crowd

Anything I eat. I just had pancakes, eggs, and sausage and I'm about to fall asleep. The other night I had chicken and I was ready to sleep.

When I started eating low carb last year, that is one of the best benefits... No longer do I have the "energy swings" where I get tired in the afternoon, or after a meal.

it's the carbohydrates. try eating a low carb lunch for a while and see how you feel in the afternoon.

I really don't want to go on Atkins, I'm skinny enough as is. And I love pasta ;)

You don't have to go on atkins, just eat less carbs and more veggies.
And eat less in general.
I also find that meats make me more tired than fish and veggies.

You are either eating too much sugar in your meals, or you are just plain eating too much.

Sure. Eat a lot of sugar or simple carbs and your body will burn them very quickly... Leaving you with no energy.

Exactly. Carbs are good for quick energy. It burns off very fast and the energy ends quite abruptly.
I believe that some carbs "leave a lot of trash" in your system, but I'm not entirely sure what does and doesn't.

Carbs are good for a short rush, but cannot get you through a day.

Exactly.

I find that gluten makes me particularly tired - wheat products.

Try not eating anything with wheat in it, breads and pastas. Replaces with rices and starches (like potatoes). You'll notice a big difference.

You are wrong on so many levels that I'm not even going to explain why. :(

Your body has only two natural desires: To reproduce, and to eat/drink. When one or the other or both are completed, your body says "OK, time to recharge for the next hunt." And it wants to rest.

If you think you're tired after eating or fscking, try doing both consecutively. ;)
