Why do I get heartburn everytime I go for a run?

About a month and half ago, I started going for a nightly run, 20-30 mins or so. Everytime, from the first time to this evening, I get heartburn, or at least, what I believe to be heartburn. I get that burning acid feeling shooting up my esophagus and into my throat, sometimes into my mouth. I start belching (quite painfully, I might add) sporadically. Taking tums solves the problem, but pumping myself full of meds isn't going to be good.

Why!? What can I do to prevent this?

Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease aka Acid Reflux aka cronic heartburn.

I've got it. Went to a doctor several years ago and he recommended over the counter antacids like Tagamet HB. They didn't really help so he sent me to a specialist for a gastroscopy. They basically shove a tube with a camera down your gullet. The flap or valve or whatever that keeps acid in my stomach from coming up into my esophagus is damaged and doesn't do its job.
