Why do I get Distorted Text on V5 5500 when using 2 sample FSAA?? HELP!!

Whenever I put my settings on my V5 5500 in 3dfx tools to 2 sample FSAA I get very distorted text in all my games. Anywhere there is text, such as the "configuration" menus, setup, HUD, etc, the text is blurry. If I select NO FSAA the text is clear and crisp. Anyone know why? I am using the beta7 drivers and have tried 1.04 and 1.04.1 and its the same with all of them.

I am using the beta7 drivers and

Eh? You haven't accidently installed the Voodoo 3 drivers have you?

What does the text look like with 4 x FSAA?

Try sharpening the image by using the LOD slider and try using the older 1.03.00 drivers.

Yes, the Voodoo 5 2X FSAA does produce some sucky looking text. Counter-Strike, Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Quake 2, Giants, FreeSpace 2, Rainbow 6, X-Wing Alliance, yada yada yada

I use to use 4X FSAA with my Voodoo 5 until I got sick of cruddy frame rates even in 16-bit color.

yeah thats the only thing i found wrong, and I admin for TFC (half life mod) so i have larger than normal amounts of text areas (5 line developer and 5 chat, plus 14 secs message/hudkill time and centered names) ... ive altered my cfgs so they are only switched on when needed now, cuz i cannot complain at the FSAA, it smooths out the building edges, characters, everything- just shame about the text.

Think tho, FS of FSAA stands for Full Screen, its your fault you now want text clear too 🙂

Its a pity you cant specify mask areas on screen to ignore (selectable by band box in tools? )

Also try just 2xfsaa, i really didnt notice the difference between 2x and 4x visual wise, just having it is the muts nuts .... either that or enable everything you can except FSAA and enjoy what you used to see in 1200x1024 (or higher) in 32bit @ 99+ fps, and just enable FSAA for non text games.

(oh and lastly, dedicate a key so you can turn it off for on-server chatting times)
