Why do I get all the extra HTML code in my posts? ANSWERED - Thankyou !!!

I have noticed that, since about the time that the Formatting Line was added at the top of the post window, at times, my posts will end up with a lot of extranious HTML formatting code before and after the message.

I also have notced that sumetimes, when I hit the PostMessage or Edit Message Key, to actually send the message, I will ger an error messge. This happens on both my Home PC, as will as my Work Station at the office. The message will post, but end up with the HTML code mentioned above.

This seems to happen a lot when I copy and past from MS Word into a post. I never had these problems until the past few weeks, so I am somewhat at a loss as to what to do about it.

Any information of this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

This happens when you paste html into the box. You won't see it in the editor as it is an html editor so it interprets the html code. Then we strip it out as HTML is not allowed here. So, i'd say stop pasting from html editors 🙂 Paste it in to notepad or something ascii text.

Thanks for the quick response.

I am confused, however, as I have been cutting and pasting with MS-Word all along, but have not had this problem until recently.
Can you expound on this?

For the record, I took one of the posts and copied it into NotePad and then back into this editor, and the extra HTML code was gone.

Thanks again for the quick turn around.

I thought you weren't reading this any more 😀 hehe.

did you change your version of work? AOL Instant Messenger does HTML stuff too. I haven't managed to figure out when it copies the HTML and when it doesn't though 🙁
