I just set up an ftp server at home using BulletFroof ftp server,
I made a user name and password for me and allowed only one user, I used BulletProof ftp form my home PC to loging to my own PC just to see if it works .. I was able connect and upload files, of course I had to tell my Norton firewall to give that program full access to the internet because I didn't know what was my work PC IP ..
So now I am at work and trying to connect and I get a socket error ..I don't think it's my firewall blocking me because I know the program has full access to the net !! what could be the problem !?

when u say you connected from your home PC, is that one with the server or another one on a lan?

you need to open port 21 to the net to make an ftp server with standard settings work.

Are you using "passive mode" (aka firewall friendly mode)? if u are, try turning it off, if you are not, try using it. I dont get what it does, but on both of my servers passive mode fails horriably, (with a data socket error, iirc), however i have found servers that need passive mode to work.
