Why do I feel queasy after weightlifting?

Usually when I put in a good effort, walking own of the gym, I start feeling queasy...like a weird feeling in my stomach. Am I supposed to? I mean is it something that goes hand in hand with feeling exhausted?

I'd say a combo of exhaustion, lack of blood to your brain (b/c the blood is flowing to your muscles more now), and low nutient levels (blood sugar).

Are you putting the weights down on your nuts? That would do it...

Getting enough fluids? Are you breathing enough?

I had that all the time when weightlifting in my the highschool - an insulated room with no airflow in or out. It got so bad that I nearly vommitted everyday (track and cross country). Then I tried weightlifting in a small business and was just fine. I later tried at my university (Nebraska the birthplace of the big football gyms) and everything was fine as well. I attributed the queasy feeling to the abundant sweat smell and reduced oxygen in a room with no airflow.

Make sure youre breathing properly during your lifts... dont hold your breath. 😛

The only time ive ever felt ready to puke was after an occasional squat session. If i go really fvckin heavy i get pretty close to vomiting. 😛

Drink something sweet like poweraide before and during your workout. I get this same feeling when I lift after a long vacation from the gym (I'm getting it this week because I've been out for a month). It's a symptom of hypoglycemia.

Soon your body will be able to handle the strain better and your blood sugar wont dip wildly like that.

How are the ribs doing?

Also with strain... if you are new to weightlifting, you will experience strain on yoru stomach and it doesn't know how to handle it.

Hydration helps sooth the stomach though. Don't over do it or you will be throwing up quickly.

I do tend to hold my breath, or not breathe in/out enough...I'll try to be more aware of that and drink something as suggested.

Yup, after I did 3X8 reps on legpress@1080lbs I almost yakked... My blood sugar levels are always fine, I get jacked up on Creatine HSC (with Dex crystals) so I think it can be attributed to low oxygen flow in the room and the nasty sweat smell...

Squats also get me lightheaded and ready to yak. 🙂

Just fine. Like nothing ever snapped 'em in the first place. 🙂

I just got over nasal surgery... and for two weeks before that, a visit to the family in CA. So I was out of the gym for close to a month. I got a few workouts in in CA, but not enough.

The ribs healed in just two weeks.

Careful... some wrestler was doing some lifting from a squat position and he blew out his bowels. picture on Rotten.

your thong is too tight.
Does it interfere with your breathing? Should he loosen it up for you?
