Why do I catch so much flack for not wanting kids one day?

Maybe I'm selfish. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Maybe it's because I grew up poor. I just don't think I want kids.
I'd much rather have freedom and money to do the things I want to do when I want to do them. I don't ever want to be too tied down. I know this greatly limits my relationship opportunities, but oh well. I'm sure there is someone out there that feels the same way. I've already had a vasectomy. I figured if I ever wanted it reversed and I didn't have the money to reverse it, I shouldn't be reversing it.

I'm still contemplating the question as well.

My concern is for the well being of the children vs the state of the world when they grow up. And ya, bein tied down is a major thing as well.

Still, I see myself havin kids at least to appease my parents. Would be cool to mold a lil version of me.

Got married at 24, divorcing at 32. I'd definitely like to have kids though. I just need to find a sane woman.

Having children is a choice...you've made the choice not to have them. The world is bulging with unwanted children and on that note alone I applaud your decision. If you change your mind later you can always adopt. Biology does not a father/mother make...other than biological of course.

Some of the most powerful emotions humans are capable of are only experinced through having children. Why deny yourself? OO yea, to buy gadgets and sleep late. yea buddy.

You're too young to know what you want. I didn't want kids at your age either. What are you going to leave behind when you get older? You will have nobody around you who loves you. Personally, I can't imagine life without my son.

The biological desire to reproduce should be supressed, there are already to many people breathing my air!!

It seems to me that a lot of couples eventually get "tired" of one another. Perhaps we should do away with marriage altogether. And when people start having problems tell them to take a big breath and say that it won't work out anymore.

hey, if you don't want kids, you don't want em. I know plenty of ppl who don't. Granted, mostly guys, but a few women too (they're taken, so don't ask). i'm indifferent right now... but seeing as i'm not seeing anyone as of late, i will stay on the not having kids side.

If you don't want kids then don't have them. You're going to get plenty of people whining at your ass saying your missing out...but why do they give a fvck what you're missing out on? Maybe they resent their kids or something and just want everyone else to suffer equally. :p

Like what?

My theory is that the human brain is hard-wired to want to have children, but that I just happen to be missing that part. I don't dislike children and get along pretty well with them (though so many of them mistake me for a jungle gym), but I have no visceral urge deep inside me to produce any.

You either have a nurturing personality or you don't.
Either way, is there some law that says you have to make a decision about it today?
Maybe your mind will change in the future, maybe it won't.
If you don't want kids right now, then my suggestion would be to not have them.
Either choice certainly doesn't make you a bad guy.

imagine when you are 60 or 70, no one that takes care of your bday parties, no grandkids to send you presents.. no one to invite you over for christmas or thanksgiving. yes maybe your friends will do that, but they are not family.. friends cant be as close as families
