Why do hair dryers come with hot and cold functions?

Because, when women spend 20 minutes drying their hair, they can't keep the setting on "hot" the whole time. Every now and then, they need to turn it over to "cool" so their hair doesn't catch on fire.

I don't think I've ever seen a hair dryer that blows cold air.

I have seen a hair dryer that has an option for "fan", as in.. no heater elements come on.

Is that what you mean?
