why do glass cups sometimes smell funny?

I noticed last night at dinner our glass cups had this weird smell. I've smelled it before on other glass cups too. It's this weird kind of unwashed smell, even after they've been through the dishwasher. Anyone know what that's from or why it does it?

glass doesn't smell. it's most likely stuff on the glass.

it's just the nasty spit from the people who used it before and it wasnt washed 100%

uh, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, and considering glass is inert..

My bet is that your dishwasher isn't really getting all of your dishes clean.
