When the game already goes out on the internet to make sure you are not running duplicate cd keys

example BF1942

NOTE: i am running a legit version. I PAYED FOR IT and yet they still nag me

Problem with some NoCD hacks is that you have to reinstall when a patch for the game comes out...

Bf1942 did that to me with the last patch, just a pain and now I can't find my RtR disc...

Because they expect us to just leave the CD in the drive

Just crack it if it annoys you. It's not illegal to do... I don't think - especially if you do own the game.

:p

I just use CloneCD to make an image of the CD on my hard drive, then point Daemon Tools at the image when I want to run the game...

All you have to do is encrypt it, heres the unencrypt key: 8734j8teuyvq89p23q8943irfjsd8rw84rewa7ywarei90t434530t43ju

Then post it on 50 sites, forward it to 50 friends, otherwise you will be haunted, and print it out and paste it in 5 different locations. Then decyrpt it back again, and figure it out, I reccomend starting at step one for this.

The real irony is that they're teaching people of the power of cracks. You buy a legal copy of a piece of software and need to jump through hoops to get to use it. Meanwhile the people with cracked copies don't need to have the CD in the drive to play the game and they don't need to waste time calling M$ to get a new registration key when they change hardware on a Windows box. So the honest legit buyer goes out and finds a crack to get past the CD check. But he thinks "boy, that was easy, and now it works better". Will that person even bother buying a legit version next time or will he just go straight for a cracked warez version? It tends to annoy me when somebody who steals something I payed for gets it free, but it really pisses me off when their free version is better than the retail version.

Its via publisher's request/demand. No copy protection/CD check/etc? No publishment. They'll lose money off of it.

It happened with Tribes 2. There was no CD requirement because there was a login/password REQUIRED to play, and you could only get a login/pass with a real CD key. So it was like CD key required except a level up.

A new patch made the CD required and the developers put out a huge public appology about how they had no choice because it was from the publisher's demand, etc. Makes sense. The game developers are not dumb, its the next level up/red tape/computer illiterate accountants etc.

Its pretty bad when it's harder to pay for software, even on-line for a serial #, than to google a serial number...
I will pay for it though when I have a real need for it...

I think it'd be easier if you just google'd it

I like the way it was done with UT and UT2003. Through the first few patches you still needed the CD, but then, after a couple of months, they put out a patch which got rid of the CD check. Guess they figured that people who were going to warez it would have already done it, so they might as well make it easier for legit customers.

Its a total pain in the ass, I cant stand it. I crack every single game I get, ESPECIALLY BF1942. I mean seriously, one check is fine, but to check every single time it tries to go to the net?

It wouldnt be so much a problem if it didnt take at least 20 seconds to do the damn check, not to mention the myriad of problems with cd drives that it brings up.

The way to go. Although i'd maybe use other programs instead of Daemon Tools as it only supports 4 virtual devices last time I checked. CloneCd Virtual Drive supports at least 8 and Alcohol 120% at least that if not more. A consideration if you have lots of games on tap.

Amen to that. If you have the hard drive space, you can have a library of games ready to play. And you dont have to deal with patch update cracks either.

why do game makers make you insert the cd.....

Heck, it's simple. It's said that each and every commercial product has a little of SA in it to attract a certain percentage of potential buyers... Every movie etc... There just has to be some SA in it... And there always is... Games are no exception. If you don't see cute women in a game, how do game designers add what should be added (SA)? They make you insert the CD into the drive, at least that's better than nothing IMO.

if you don't want to crack it because you have to reinstall, here is what i do

rename the original .exe file to, for example, war3_orig.exe

then when i need to patch i rename the crack to war3_crack.exe and the original back to war3.exe

after patching, i get the new crack, rename the original war3.exe to war3_orig.exe, then put in the crack

i did not actually start this thread for cracking tips. i started it to ask a question, "why do game makers make you insert the cd when the game already goes out on the internet to make sure you are not running duplicate cd keys." i already got the no cd patches running on almost all my games;)
