Here's the funniest part: At the end of their St Anger video (which is just Master of Puppets w/diff lyrics, imho) they dedicate their song to everyone in San Quentin.

It's nice to know they show compassion to rapists and murderers and those who stole their mp3s that they sued.

Two possible reasons.

1) They feel angry about being picked on loud, heavy music allows them to release those feelings.

2) Loud, heavy music is often associated with tough-guy kind of people. Fat kids may try to adopt things that they believe will cause others to think twice about picking on them.

I think a lot of fat kids have it rough growing up. Even those that don't get picked on probably feel bad about themselves.

Doesn't make the music stop sucking though.

What's wrong with showing compassion for people? Some of you people act like fvcking Nazi's all of the time. I have no doubt the whole dedication thing is just a stunt for them, but do you hate everyone that is in prison?

the video in st. anger was awesome..being in a prison like that must shoot chills down your spine.

the stories in there must be crazy..prison life is such a different life and the reason they filmed in the prison was because it was 10min away from where they live all their lives and worked. Lars said that he always felt that the prisoners were always looking out while society was looking in. Metallica said it was a definite experience and many many stories in there.

long live metallica

i will always be a fan. they are the best band from the last 20 yrs!

for all the haters out there..dont hate metallica, they revolutiozed how heavy was listened too in the 80's and through the 90's and 2000's. hate the bands where they stay around for 3-4 years and go off int he distance. from RELOAD to ST. ANGER was 6-7 years..more than most bands stay together..

you do have a point here. i guess using the word 'hate' is too strong, more of a dislike.

i think it's because of the similarities between their songs i hear on the radio... after so many years and so many songs, they all just blend together for me, making it the same song over and over, which i tire of.

same thing with many other bands, REM for instance used to be one of my favorites, but I don't even listen to them anymore... i honestly think it's somewhat good for bands to break up, quit, what have you, after a certain amount of years and new bands coming in...just brings in new blood, voices, different styles...etc.

eh, that's enough from me, b/c i usually don't know what I'm talking about....

I didn't say I hated anybody. But pursuing people who download mp3s as criminals and then dedicating a song to criminals is pretty hypocritical. People are in prison b/c they are being punished for crimes against other people. And they should be punished. If that makes me a Nazi then Hiel Hitler.

sorry for the people who dislike metallica...its your choice and opinion and no one can argue with you.

for Metallica has put out the last 20 years they will always be remembered. From orion (best song ever) on master to frayed ends of sanity on and justice for all, from fade to black and call of ktulu on ride and motorbreath and seek and destroy on killem all, Metallica made heavy metal what it is now. even on load and reload with songs such as mama said, the outlaw torn, fixxxer..etc.

i dont understand why people started hating Metallcia after the Load album. Their black album was less heavy, more produced etc. The load and reload album was heavy and their lyrics were heavier and meant more than the previous albums

what can i say..im a true metallica fan

Take a look at their record sales again, smart guy.

St. Anger has gone double platinum in about 4 weeks time
