Because most drive through ATM's are available to and used by walk up customers.

Ok, then why is it a "drive through" ATM if you can walk up and use it?

here's the deal: they want to have them on certain atms. it is cheaper to use the same machinery to make all of them, than to have a separate process for making non-braille ones. it's not like those little dots cost them tremendous amounts of money.

The same machine FACE is used for the drive through and the walk up.

Did you repeatedly ask the teacher "why?" when you were young?

I honestly don't know. My bank office has a drive through ATM and people are always walking up to it.
