Why do dress shoes wear out so fast???

I bought $150 Kenneth Cole dress shoes and after only about a month of casual 9-5 use, they are almost already all worn out on the bottom. Is this normal for dress shoes??

I'd go have a talk with the 12 year old asian girl who put your shoes together.

Assuming they are leather soles just get them resoled. Costs about $40 and will extend the life of your expensive shoes.

What on earth are you doing that you'd wear out dress shoes so quickly? Are you a door to door salesman or something were you do a lot of walking outside?

You might replace them with a pair of ECCO's. They have a rubber sole and will almost never wear out.

Hmm. Yes, I also own a kenneth cole shoe and yes it seems to wear out super fast...
but it is one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn 🙂

Kenneth Cole shoes SUCK...I've gone through several pairs. Go get some Rockports, or Cole Haans, or Campers, or Eccos, they'll last.

ECCO FTW!

This guy definitely knows what he's talking about.

Cole Haan shoes are good too.

Dress shoes do not _ever_ have "tread". Dress shoes have leather soles. Shoes with rubber soles are business casual at most.

ECCO or Joseph Seibles - both very comfortable, well cushioned shoes that last. I've had my pair of Ecco dress shoes now for a year and a half of nearly daily wearand they still look good if I keep them polished...and comfortable as all heck.

Florsheim or Johnston & Murphy. Johnston & Murphy for full-dress, and Florsheim for business casual. Keep 'em polished and they'll last years.

Amen to the Rockports. I've seen those things hit 200,000 + miles....figuratively speaking of course. 😀 Good shoes, VERY comfortable.

The Joseph Seibles I have are very nice. I've always found Kenneth Cole to be overweight...and overpriced for what they are.

For something cheap and comfortable, I'm also a fan of Bostonian.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I need a pair of black dress shoes for the office. Apparently the flat-toed Kenneth Cole shoes I have now are too casual. Just wanted to get your opinions on this pair, or if there are better ones in the same price range you'd recommend:
