Why do disposable razors suck so bad?

Oops, hit the enter key on the subject line.

Anyway, it's like trying to shave with a butter knife, or more accurately, a pair of pliers. And these aren't the cheapest of disposables either.

No no, I use the Mach 3 normally. I'm not talking about the razors with the disposable cartridges, I'm talking about the 1-piece use and throw-away ones.

Decided to try a few different kinds to see if they work as well and maybe save some money in the process.

i concur then got like at 30 pack from target for $3.00 or so

i had to go over my face like 10 times thing is a pain in the ass and cuts all over the place

even a dull mach 3 is way better than those things

I used the Mach 3 blades....they are fantastic....the best standard disposable ones I ever found were Wilkinson Sword Duplo-II, cheap as the rest but slightly better.

There are also a newer brand of disposables that look similar to Mach 3 from Wilkinson Sword but I forget the name....they are expensive though.

Yeah... Mach 3's are awesome. I usually use the same head about 4 or 5 times for that matter before replacing it. I know that's a stretch, I used to use it maybe 2 or 3 times, but money is real tight these days and those things are so damn expensive.

I used one of the disposable 1-piece ones today, not a terribly cheap brand - triple blade too. It honestly looks like I haven't shaved today after using it. I didn't shave as normal with it this time, last time I tried about a week ago with one, the bottom side of my jawline bled for about an hour. About a 2"x2" patch on either side.

I can use a blade for probably three weeks, shaving every day before I throw it away.
You might want to try using your mach 3 blades longer than 5 times.

Disposable razors aren't good, they are convenient.

Naw, when they get to the point where they're pulling the hair out of my face rather than cutting it, then it's time for a new blade.

I bought a 180 pack of gillete sensor disposable razors (2 blades :Q ) for 18 bucks It should be enough for 360 shaves total (thats about a years worth of shaving) plus I use soap not shaving cream. Man I spend like $30 yearly on shaving needs... (also i keep a goatie sparingly... so the average is even higher at times :D ) Shows you how much I LOVE disposables. My buds spends loads more money on shaving products from gillete mach3's and cream and aftershave.

Picture at Ft. Benning, GA, a bunch of nervous and mostly teenage new recruits fresh off the bus at 11pm getting yelled at by a drill sergeant: "You have 30 seconds to go into the latrine and shave!" Now imagine some poor, unprepared kid with acne who's never used a disposable razor in his life, forgot to bring one, and had to borrow a cheap one from the guy next to him.

It was a recipe for disaster.

Ditto on using mach 3 blades for more than 4-5 shavs. Hell, I'll keep my blades on there for months at a time. One 4-blade refill pack will generally last close to a year.

And no, I'm not unusually unhairy. In actuality, I grow more facial hair in two days than many people do in a week.

I use my mach 3 blade everybit of 3 weeks and never get nicked. I'd rather use a butter knife than those 30 for $5 disopsables.

I've been using the Gillette disposable razors for quite sometime now. If anyone cares, I found out that the dark blue and teal ones are the best. All of the others pretty much suck. (The dark blue and light blue ones, yellow and white, I even used my gf's purple and white once--they are all bad.)

I've been using the Mach 3 for years. I even tried the more expensive "Turbo" but I found it wasn't worth the extra cost of the blade, thus I stick to the original. I can get 3 close shaves out of each blade. I think it's B.S that Gillette makes improvements to the original Mach 3 blade and wants you to pay extra for it. What a marketing scam.

Disposable razors are what, $2 a pack of 10? How the hell do you expect them to shave as well as a $5 Mach3, or a $100 electric razor?

My Mach 3s last about 7-10 days and then start to irritate my face. I think I've cut myself about three times in the last six years -- the key is to shave in the shower.
