Connies: Abortion, trade balances, gay issues, culture and religion, immigration, media, etc.

Libbies: Income distribution, social security, race, etc.

The Connie position is especially perplexing, as they claim to be anti-government. Yet they still want to control as much as they possibly can with the State. Is this similar to their claim of being anti-gay?

Oh well, it is only politics, right? Never meant to be consistent, only a means to secure and entrench positions of Power. ;)

Government, in Theory, is how the People exert their collective Power over themselves. Most Democratic Governments have a Constitution or Tradition(such as Britain) that helps to avoid the Tyranny of the Majority as a balance to raw Rule by Majority. That's basically why both sides of the Political spectrum use Government the way they do.
