They all crowd the screen with too many banners and junk.

They all have the crawl at the bottom. They they have their IDs. They have the stock quotes, they have a banner with a headline, then another smaller banner above that. It's really annoying when they are showing some video that is very interesting but you can't see everything because half of the screen is full of banners!

I can't believe they don't think this is annoying. Why then do they do it?

Because news losses money for companies that own them. So they try and make up the costs. The web isn't such a good place to do that now though.

The Daily Show mocked it too. Steve Carell was the anchor, and they had the regular ticker with headlines scrolling to the left at the bottom of the screen. Then, above that they added a "condensed" headline ticker that only had the first two words of the headlines, and that scrolled to the right.

Next, they had a guy in the background commenting while reading a newspaper. Then, they added a "town crier" in the lower right to shout the headlines, so that people wouldn't have to read.

Finally, they added a picture-in-picture box in the upper left of the screen with Steve Carell giving entertainment news, so people wouldn't be deprived. And then, of course, they added a ticker to the bottom the the picture-in-picture screen.

agreed, the banner are annoying but they sometimes use them to advertise something else. I guess banners could be an income for them.

They share one goal. That is to repeat stories until they have worn so thin on the public to the point of utter insanity. Somone should CNN quick vote about the level of repeated stories. O.J. is a prime ex..

fwiw: we're talking TV here, not websites. take a look at CNN for instance. nothing but banners and logos crowding the screen.

That was incredible funny! :D

We live in a world where information is becoming more important than people. The news media is just refelecting that.
