why do CDs play at a different volume than MP3s?

All my CDs play at a lower volume than do the MP3s. Even when I make MP3s they play at a different level than the original CD. It's weird. It makes me feel like I need to adjust something, but I don't know what to adjust.

adjust your sound control panel
WAV controls mp3 volume (unless you're using WMP i think, which has its own volume control)
CD-ROM controls cd player volume

Hey! That did it! I had looked in there earlier, adjusted the wave balance to full, but didn't notice a difference. lol now I know why. I didn't even see the CD ROM balance. :) it's been one of those days.

Thanks. People helping out is what makes this forum cool.
