Why do Browsers do this? Has this happened to you?

When you try to click on a link the whole damn page jumps up or down about 1/2 inch and you hit the wrong link as a result.

pretty frequent too....

:p

Seriously, I have no idea.

More info would be helpful (browser, what sites you've had this happen with, etc.)

I have been experiencing that with all versions of Firefox I have tried(currently 1.07). Don't know what causes it though, I just got used to it.

I can't say I've ever had that happen, exept perhaps when the page is still loading.

Are you waiting for the page to load completely?

It's possible that:

a) the page hasn't full loaded, and image loads above your link, changing the layout and forcing your link "down" on the screen.
or b) an advertisement loads, causing the same effect as a)

It has happened to me occasionally using Firefox 1.07, but I've so far been able to take a deep braeth and let it go.

page is still loading images (probably further down where you can't see it)... you can change the option to load placeholders instead or something similar before it loads the full image.

It happens a lot when I'm surfing mininova.

It's because when the page is loading, there's a lot of ads that need to be loaded but the torrent links always come up first so when the ads above is appear, it pushes it down half an inch to one inch.

But yeah, to answer your question, it does happen to others and it's just caused by images/ads loading.
