Why do atheletes have big glassy eyes after a match?

I noticed this yesterday on rocco mediate after the open. Seen that look many other times as well in agassi, federer, nadal, etc. It seems after a particularly difficult match their eyes are bloodshot, pupils are large and eyes are very glassy.

Is it that they have been so focused for so long during play the brain is giving some extra attention to the eyes?

It's the aftermath of the performance enhancing drugs as they begin to wear off. ;)

Go running for an hour. Look in the mirror. Your eyes will probably look different too.

increased heart rate + increased awareness of surroundings + high levels of stress = different look. Did you ever play sports?

I'm surprised more PGA pros don't wear shades on the course.

Since Duval I can't think of a guy that has rocked the shades on a steady basis.

sup with that?

For me it bothers my field of vision, I play much better without sunglasses.

Plenty, just never really looked in the mirror I guess or didn't pay it any attention. It could also be with high definition and the bright lights in their face the look is really pronounced.

It is from exhaustion, you can hardly focus since you are exhausted completely but your heart is still racing while moderately overheated.
