Why didnt Intel just make the Northwood at 133 fsb?

I was just wondering why they didnt just make it 133 fsb instead of 100 with a higher multiplier? Seems to me that that would be better then lowering fsb and raising the multiplier. Now we have to wait till the next ones come out to start at 133 fsb. Sounds to me like marketing, we all know the higher the fsb the better for reaching higher fsb by overclocking. I am not complaing about the chip dont get me wrong but common sense to me it seems like. As a P4 2.0 Northwood owner I like the speed but I would like more fsb to get the true speed over just a higher multiplier.

i think they are just using us as guinea pigs. there gonna let oc'ers like us push the envelope and see what works. why should they spend their research dollars doing it when they know we will.

it's the only thing that makes sense when you consider how MUCH overhead the northwoods have.

They have the money thats why. Hell they can create the 133 fsb chip in 6 months but cant just start with it? That makes no sense to me.

The Northwood-B will have 133 MHz FSB from what I've read.

Not quite sure why they went with 100MHz FSB for the first batch, but I don't really mind. It overclocks like crazy and performs better than the previous Pentium IV so who cares really?

I think they went with 100 MHz fsb to compliment the 800 MHz Rambus ram it was built to run with (which is 8 X 100)... The new Rambus Ram runs at 1066 MHz (8 X 133).
