Why didn't Eli want to play for San Diego?

He's a moron.

Let see....in that trade, San Diego ended up with Rivers(better than Manning so far), Merriman (beast, possibly the best pass rusher in the NFL), and Kaeding (solid kicker). Yea, that's not a bad deal.

I think some of it circled around the holdouts that other first round draft picks faced there. Look at Rivers, he went how many weeks (or was it even months) before reaching a deal.

Try to remember the Chargers of old

2000: 1-15
2001: 5-11
2002: 8-8
2003: 4-12

Eli was drafted in 2004.

Fixed! 🙂

Eli didn't want to play for a loser. Unfortunately, Eli is NOT his big brother. He can't turn a team around like big bro.

Peyton is the best. He's uncanny. He seems to be the only QB in the league who can win without a run game, he's that good. IMO, the best thing the Chargers did was get Marty. To me, he's a real tough guy and coach. He seems like the kind of coach who needs to win. He has a lot of drive. On the professional level, that's pretty much the bottom line.

Looks like they could win the Super Bowl the way they are playing.

Have you ever considered the fact that they look like they could win the Super Bowl because Eli isn't playing for them? With the weapons the Giants have on offense their inability to move the ball consistently is directly attributable to him.

Eli has show some signs of being good at times, but he's just way too inconsistent. It would have been great if both of the bros were great and they faced each other every year. That would have been neat.

I?m starting to turn around about Vince Young. I?m a PSL holder for the Titans and I was VERY disappointed that they drafted him. But the way he has played and lead the team the past 5 weeks?wow. That 34yrd game winning run today was fantastic. He?s never going to be a top notch drop back passer, but he?s looking like a younger Steve Young with some good wheels and doesn?t make too many bad decisions.

During the off-season, Norm Chow is going to work on Young?s mechanics. That 3/4 or ½ side arm crap he does is going to get him in trouble. He?s got a strong arm, but he really needs to work on his motion.

No its more to do with coaching than just Eli. I except a full cleaning out of the HC and Offensive coaches at the end of the season.

The Chargers wanted Rivers, who was the better QB all along. They knew they could get some nice $$$ from the Midgets if they drafted Eli, so they did.

And they got Philip Rivers, the best QB of that draft, and Merriman with the draft pick they got from the Midgets.

Rivers was better than both Worthlessburger and ShEli in college, and continues to be in the pros, now they he's gotten a chance. We would have already known he was better if the idiot SD GM didn't make him hold out, only to end up paying him exactly what he asked for in the first place.
He'd have beaten Drew Brees out in preseason for the starting job, and the rest would have been history.

I say, leave the throwing motion alone. It works for him, and the boy can throw. If anything, work with VY on other mechanics, like improving his footwork in the pocket and working on the short throws / screen reads.

His footwork could improve, but I think he makes OK decisions on when to run and when to throw the quick out. It?s going to improve as he spends more time in the off-season just playing the game.

His arm is a cannon, but think about if they can get him to throw full cocked with accuracy. He'd be a beast with the deep ball. He makes his height advantage (6?5?) almost useless when he throws sidearm. That makes him throwing at the height of an 6?0? / 6?1? QB.

Either way, he's impressed me with his poise and winning three come from behind wins this season. We went from 0-5 to 6-7. That's great.
