Why didn't anyone tell me they are doing a remake of Space Hulk?!?

Coming out August 15th.

One of the greatest games I ever played at the time it came out. The whole game was it's own genre at the time with the multiple POV, the ability to switch from one of your team members FPV to another FPV, and the environment was nerve-wracking. Plus, the intro had an awesome guitar riff. I sure hope they don't ruin it's legacy with this new iteration.

Common knowledge no?

Also, looks like it plays more like Space Crusade.

Not quite sure if it's going to be good or not... or just not what I want.

I read early on that it was being developed for the Ipad and pretty much wrote it off.

Watched the video on the Steam store page, and it looks kind of dumb, like you walk down straight corridors right up to something and attack.

Is it like a tower defense game or something?

It's a classic board game that pays a homage to the original Aliens series.

Except replace the wimpy humans with superhuman soldiers wearing Tactical Dreadnought armor that is strong enough to shrug off AT rounds, and replace the weak aliens with an unending swarm of genestealers that have claws that can go through that armor like butter, and the purpose of the game is to go deeper and deeper into a ship that has been drifting through a reality where the word "hell" merely describes a cheery Sunday afternoon in a small town in Ohio, in the hopes of possibly discovering something useful that can be recovered and won't eat and/or destroy the ship as soon as it is removed from the resting place at which it has sat for the last 10 millienia.

Also I want this game.

It's a third person tactical/strategy game. You have your squad and you have to position them to deal with enemies that come. Each guy in the squad has so many points they can use each turn, movement takes 1 point, attacking takes 1 (just examples).

I still have the old board game somewhere, I really wanted to get the new one but GW was charging such a retarded amount for it I just couldn't do it. I'm definitely going to pick this up, previews make it sound like a good conversion from the original game.

That is their entire business philosophy, more so now. Have you seen the prices of their miniatures in the past year?

Yeah I check in on it every now and then when I get the urge to get back into the tabletop game and the prices always drive me away. I used to have a few large armies and the new models and rules coming out always look really cool but I just can't bring myself to drop the money for it. I just checked on ebay and the new space hulk set is going for around 300$ now, it's annoying as hell they made it limited edition, from what I remember the old version was on the shelves for a long time, but then again that one just used standard models.

Yeah, their practices are silly. If they kept the Space Hulk game instock as a normal item it would sell quite well. Tons of people want to get a hold of the game. But instead they make it limited, while that wouldn't be so bad, it is actually good and so people actually want to play it.

Their miniature prices have gotten insane. I have my Ogre Kingdoms army that is totally complete (have around 6k points) and a Space Marine and Eldar army (both around 2500 points) but I haven't touched either of those two in sometime. I didn't like 5th edition that much and frankly I don't like 6th edition as it is an obvious money grab with the whole allied system (even though it wouldn't effect me since I have 2 armies). I'm probably going to sell most of my 40k stuff and just keep a couple of the miniatures I like.

I use to have a large group of friends that were into 40k/fantasy (most of them liked 40k more but I much prefer fantasy) but the GW prices just pushed them away. We all went to Warmachines/Hordes and have a couple of armies there and enjoy it more than 40k as well.

All the edition changes have been money grabs.

While that is true to some extent, it hasn't been as blatant as 6th. Basically if you don't run allies to plug in your armies weakness you are handicapping yourself against someone who does. It is a really stupid system. Then the whole terrain thing as well, they jacked terrain prices up 20-30% right before they released 6th.

looks like XCOM...which is good, and its yet more awesome cause its W40k, but i guess ill pass until it comes out since the prepurchase bonuses are pretty bad.

lets see how good it is when its released. I hope they make xcom but with less repetitive gameplay and some better Turn based combat

News Flash. Companies like to make money. 40k is a hobby where the consumer will buy things even with price increases every year.

Also stop using GW terrain.

Wouldn't try it. Its hard to paint because the spray paint melts the Styrofoam.

Either use a water based paint, or a first coat of something that doesn't dissolve Styrofoam. I used a coat of sand and glue to give it texture first.

No shit, but there is making money and there is taking advantage of your customers.

Some of GW terrain is good and unforuantly the GW store is the closes place to me if I want to play their games and they don't allow non GW terrain (outside of some homemade stuff, my LGS is quite a bit further and hardly anyone places GW games their.

News Flash. Use other paints/products

I wasted too much time with this game both on the PC and the tabletop. I still have the tabletop version in my garage with the other Warhammer stuff. I had tried to get rid of it a while back but convinced myself that I'd get back into it.. I haven't..
