Why didn't anyone tell me Battlefield 1942 was so good?

Ah damn. I've been playing Tribes2 all this time. I downloaded the Secret Weapons demo and love it.

Is EA going to sell a bonus set with all the add-ons included? It still seems like 1942 alone goes for ~$35.

BF1942 is good, but HalfLife and all it's mods are the "best game ever."

Sorry. :D

So is the cd-key linked to one account? I see it 2nd-hand a few places, and I don't want to waste my time if I can't play online.

Oh, I agree with you on that, but BF1942 is the most fun online I've ever had.

Try again :p. Ive played Wolfenstein ET and it is great for being free, a lot of fun, but I just plain don't like the Quake 3 style of gameplay. BF1942 is the most fun ive had online in a long time. nothing like jumping in a plane, bombing an enemy airfield/carrier then parachuting out to wreak more havoc. Great game.

Be sure to check out BF1942's mods. DesertCombat and Eve of Destruction kick ass, and the upcoming Forgotten Hope promisses to kick greater asses.

BF42.com is a great site for more info.

Because that would be like telling you the earth was round.
Even Columbus had to experience it himself first before he believed it.:)

At any rate, can someone answer my question as to whether the CD/Online Key is unique to a single user? I've seen BF 1942 used for ~$25 and I don't want to shell out the money if I can't play it online.

It is unique ... I wouldn't trust buying it second hand. It's safer off buying it new.

Try the FS/T forum or a reputable used game place like EBGames. I bought it used from FS/T, $25 shipped. The CD Key is tied to one copy, but it's like half life and not tribes 2 (ie: you can only play with one key online at a time, theres no account creation)

There are some downsides (like in Tribes2). Idiots on public servers can really make getting into a plane difficult. If you're running to one, beating someone else there, sometimes they'll whip out their bazooka/panzefaust and blow up the plane you're either getting in or taking off in. My best advice is to just find a good private server and play there all the time.

Thanks, I figured it was something like that. The emails I sent to people selling it used are saying things like "It installs just fine", etc.

Yeah, I know they pick up the CDs used, because people probably buy it for the CD-Key then return it.

its awesome, bf1942 and road to rome are worth it.

the desert combat mod is tops.

i'm mostly playing elite force 2's single player right now. they really got that game right, its fps in the half life tradition:) amazing how decent the tweaked q3 engine stilll looks.

funny bit is nude patches are already out for it. figures lol:)

duno if there ar enude patches for bf1942, don't think you'd want to see that kinda horror though. nazi wang everywhere!

Who exactly wants to see naked people running around on a game like BF 1942 anyway?

Actually, who really gets their jollies off seeing naked people run around getting shot in any game?

i've had this game for a while and its been sitting in my puter but like i can't figure it out...
its like MOHAA but also a sim?...and wtf is up with spawn points...and like 30keystrokes to remember?!
i tried a single player campaign..just the generic one that comes up...and i'm on a warship by myself
and then i jump into a smaller boat/tank and 10minutes later someone appears to 'drive' me to shore..
or sometime i jump into the water and swim till i drown :(

and on the shore...i'm supposed to fight japanese to capture something...what, i'm not sure...
and after a few deaths, i gotta start on that damn warship again and wait in the damn boat for someone
to drive me to shore...major pain in the a$$.. :(
