this guy got legitimately gunned down by cops back in april. they saw him escaping from an apartment with blood on him, and they thought he was the attacker so they shot and killed him. OOPS, he was just a victim instead of the attacker.

why wasn't there hardly anything in the news beyond the first day? and no riots or demonstrations? i don't even remember a single post about it on P&N.

What's to discuss? Guy was accidentally killed by cops. Everyone knows it was an accident. So sad, but really, what is there to discuss?

Maybe white people are just fine with innocent people being killed by the police, even if it's the victim, and brown people don't give a shit because white people tend to call them "thugs" and deserving of the same death by cop? Yeah, I'm going with that. It makes it look like whites don't give a shit about anybody except for themselves.

The fact that they shot the guy they thought they were "protecting" is the most damning part of the story.

Did anyone else see that the cops were suspended? Was Darren Wilson suspended after the incident?

Really? How so?

You really do need people to explain things to you as if you have the mental capacity of a 2 year old ;)

In one situation the guy being shot was not putting another person's life in immediate danger. In the other situation the guy being shot, according to the officer, was placing a life in immediate danger.

Whites care about people who have an immediate connection to our own lives. But like, blacks see other blacks and share a kind of bond (someone else can explain it better). I know people of the Jewish faith connect tightly with others of the same faith. But a white person looking at another random white person, just sees another person just like anyone else, no special bond or connection, or inherent duty to aid, or to protect, purely on the basis of shared skin color.

I'm sorry which case are you referring to?

I'm just making a comment on one of the bits in the article:
Tosh has yet to address Winkler’s death on his Twitter account.
Maybe I'm just not "hip" to social media & what-not, but this just stuck out as a very odd thing to write...

Are people today expected to share all their deepest moments with the Twitterverse?

I'm sorry, who were you again? I apologize, I've completely forgotten who you are. Must not have been anyone important, that's for sure.

We racist white folk only remember those who burn their communities to the ground for attention. You may begin the process any time you please.

Nope, just pointing out the inconsistencies. Last time I checked, brown wasn't armed and according to the police chief, Wilson wasn't aware of browns previous doings.

But hey! If they are different situations then it's good to know you've finally taken sides on the brown case;)

Way too much generalizing there,

The same reason little minority kids in cities go missing all the time getting no coverage and cable news went almost 24x7 with Natalie Halloway.

If there actually is any truth to that, which I don't know that there is. I am sure it has a lot more to do with being in the majority versus a relatively small minority. If you were a white in Japan, you'd probably feel more of a bond to other white people in Japan. Just like when something happens around the world the media always reports "215 people died, including 4 Americans."

OP this is the killing you should be referring to. But lets be honest there is not a distrust of police in the Caucasian community therefore we all assume the victim got out of line somehow and while maybe should not have been shot, certainly did could have behaived better which would have prevented his own death. The Black community has a distrust of police and that is a hard thing to shake.

http://fox13now.com/2014/08/11/brea...-involved-shooting-in-s-salt-lake-police-say/

According to Sgt. Darin Sweeten, police were called to the scene just after 7 p.m. after receiving a 911 call of a man waving a gun in the air.

When police arrived they spotted the suspect leaving the gas station with two other individuals.

According to Sweeten, the officers demanded that the suspect and the two others surrender.

The suspect did not follow orders and was shot.

i don't even remember a single post about it on P&N.

I think we had posts about it here. IIRC, comments along the lines of the police being too quick to shoot. Stuff along the lines of the Christopher Dorner situation where police were hastily shooting at people in vehicles that didn't even match the description of Dorner's.
