Why didn't anyone ever tell me the basic golf swing was soo easy?

yesterday i scored 84 at cranbury country club golf course. not the hardest course in NJ but a nice tight one, i only missed 2 fairways all day and most of those fairways were like only 30 to 40 yrds across.

i went to the driving range today and i was hitting soo straight.

why didn't anyone ever tell me the golf swing was soo easy?

obviously i'm not the best golfer in the world, but to score 84 after only golfing for like 6 months is pretty good.

here's what i've found

and btw, for those that are going to mock me, no i cannot drive 300+ yds, shoot my longest drive yesterday was only 275 yds, but i was straight as an arrow yesterday.

here is the secret.

the secret to the golf swing is not how you take it back (damn, how many times different people gave me a hard time about my back swing, totally irrelevant, Jim Furyck anyone?)

nope, the secret to the golf swing is to keep your hands as close to your body as possible and turn them over just as your hands pass your right hip (if you are right handed, left hip if you are left anded).

this turning over of the hands is the most important part of the swing, if you can get this part right, you can build the rest of your swing to suit you and to get you in the position to flip the hands, whether you have an back swing like furyk (right elbow going almost as high as the club) or a back twisting backswing like freddie couples . . .

edit

btw, the only reason my score wasn't better was because i didn't have a good gauge of how far my clubs went with my new swing.

i'm hitting a bit farther and much straighter than i used to when i was casting all over the place.

no i played 2 or 3 times a week.

my little brother is a natural. he hits single digits regularly and he never plays.

i had to work really hard to get to this point and i bet i don't hit in the 80's again for a while.

There are people that play more than you and longer than you and they cant still break 100.

I have been playing for a while, and I am really happy if I shoot 84.

cue me into the golf terms plz... when you say most ppl can't break 100, is that the same score rating that pros do -12 or more?

They mean 100 total shots in 18 holes. When the pros shoot negitive numbers thats with respect to par, which is normaly around 72. So, a -12 on 18 would be like 60 total shots.

Some other things we didn't tell you-

Don't feed the bears.

Women don't like being "honked'. Especially if you don't know them.

Two #1 pencils don't = a #2 pencil

If it's now green, but it didn't start out green, don't eat it.

i've been shooting low 100's high 90's for about 4 weeks now, but i made a transition to a different level with this change in my swing. i am hitting the ball so straight now it's scary.

fine, i'm normally in the 94 to 106 range. i lost over 1 stroke per hole because of this change in swing.
