Why did we allow US Corps to build China so strong and skip Mexico?

I don't understand the whole "China is a long time enemy of the USA" bs. China has BARELY at any point been a real enemy to the USA. Communism was the enemy of the USA, not China. China and the USA have had a pretty good relationship and they are one of our better "friends" imo.

You guys ever hear about the Korean War ?

Our troops fought the Chinese in that one...as well as in Vietnam. (just not as well publicized as it was in Korea)
Communist China (Red China) is not now, nor has it ever been a "friend" of the USA. We're merely a source of capital for them and they're just a source of cheap labor for the corporations.

So all that stealing of military secrets in the 90s didn't raise the hair on your neck? Or were you old enough to be paying attention at that time?

I've believed for a long time that the U.S. will be at war with China in our lifetime. But having said that, Mexico is a cesspool, beyond saving. If you think Chinese made goods are junk, just look at the crap that Mexico produces. Sure our companies invested in China, but it was the Chinese who provided that impetus. It was the Chinese who wooed our businesses to invest. The Mexican society will never be as industrious or hard-working as that of the Chinese. I don't think it's a matter of race, rather one of culture.

War (again) with China is possible I suppose. I certainly hope not. They outnumber us so badly that their military can take 75% losses and still outnumber our troops.

This cartoon from 2001 pretty much sums it up for me:

BoomerD, no shit again that wasn't a war with China that was a war on Communism. China has never been our enemy, Communism on the other hand has been. We've also been on the same side of the battlefield with China. China is and should be treated like a friend to the United States, not an enemy. That said, that doesn't mean we have to agree on everything or that we shouldn't take a strong stance against them. Friendship isn't always unicorns and rainbows.

Even Israel has stolen Technology from the US.

Why? Because China has gotten its act together whereas the Mexican government has its head up its ass.

We figured out after Winfield Scott took Mexico City that the whole country was a shit hole and we didn't want it.

If only our forefathers had had the wisdom to just conquer all of Mexico and Latin America down through Panama and make it part of the U.S. we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Because China workers are already EDUCATED. China has over 1 billion more workers then Mexico. Out of those 1.3 billion there is way more degree holding workers then Mexico has.

Chinese workers are a little too educated that is the problem. China has virtually $0 R&D costs because they simply copy everything that is sent over there to be manufactured.

china is evil

That would have been true 30 or 40 years ago but today? I dunno. Give the modern Chinese government some credit--at least it's trying to do something to improve the standard of living for its people. Also, the last time China invaded another nation was...?

My take is:

Chinese government = shrewd, perhaps even wise.

U.S. = retarded

tibet? not to mention oppression to its own indigenous people the uiguhrs and countless other human rights issues. you're right though, they do get credit for looking out for their people, however on the flip side, look at the toll it's done to their environment.

and yes, the U.S. is also retarded for not being able to do anything right these days because the hot topics most partisans care about are barack being a muslim and how dumb of a ho sarah palin is.
