Why did the shootings at Columbine happen?

Seriously, they must have been under lots of pressure and not accepted by the rest. At least that is my guess without having read any articles on the subject. Either that or they weren't living a good life at home.
Stupid kids whose parents were too stupid to provide them with adaquete outlet for their angst. Doom 2 is not enough murder and mayhem for a modern teenager. For some reason, I suspect that they weren't even allowed to masturbate.
Edit: And don't tell me it wasn't an angst thing. It was so poorly planned and executed that it HAD to be angst. Where were the rapes? Automatic shotguns? Preset explosives? Why did all those kids actually make it to the doors? Diversionary timed explosives to cause traffic problems and distract police? If they had honestly hated their school enough to actually PLAN, most, if not all of these relatively obvious devices would have been employed. Instead it was a psuedo-random muder/suicide. An angst event, through and through.

I wonder why the parents never bothered to investigate what was taking place right under their noses. I can tell you that if my friends and I had spent weekends in one of our garages tinkering, sawing, hammering etc. our parents would have been demanding to see exactly what we were up to.

Realistically, I don't doubt that the temptation of making their Doom II fantasy (they allegedly imported the faces of teachers and classmates onto enemies) a reality played a small part in their drive to do what they did. Ditto the influence of The Basketball Diaries or whatever the hell that movie was called.
Mainly though, this is a case of two socially excluded adolescents with unfortunate access to firearms doing what millions must have wished they could do once or twice in their high school lives. By the numbers, it was bound to happen sometime. Usually some bragging goes on and word leaks out, but this time nobody caught it. I wouldn't necessarily blame the parents; even good parents can be unaware of the secret lives of their adolescent children (my parents never had a clue about 90% of what I did out of the house) and in any case it's a moot point now.

Scroll up to my first post. The fact that no rapes were involved is a huge testament to the fact that it was just a retarded teenage angst outlet. Anyone thinking clearly and acting without political motivation would see that High School = hot virgins and hot virgins*hostages=will put out to save life (Or can be made to and then killed depending on how sadistic you're feeling). Seriously, if you're going to go out like that, go out with a bang (or two. or twenty)
Various other technical details that would have become obvious during any serious planning phase were also overlooked.
