Why did The Family Guy not do well?

I've been downloading episodes, since I never catch it on TV, and I think its utter genius. There must be more calculation that goes into an episode of that show than any other two shows combined.

To me, its what the next level of the Simpsons. The Simpsons opened up the America to the world of animated self-criticism and satire, and The Family Guy cuts in just that much deeper. How come Simpson fans haven't propped this show and given it the ratings I would expect it to have?
This thing should have been a hit.......

Maybe if everyone stopped doing that and watched it on TV it would have done well.

Except we did watch it on TV, while Fox pulled the plug numerous times.

because they wouldn't leave that goddamn show alone

if they would've left it on the same day it would've been fine, but they kept moving it back and forth back on forth

just put it on sunday's instead of futurama or king of the hill and all would be good

<< Whatever happened to Futurama? >>

I still watch that Sundays at 7:00. It's been easier to find than Family Guy...

Well Futurama isn't the issue, King of the Hill is. That show is complete and utter bullcrap. That fool should go back to Beavis and Butthead, at least they were good for a stupid laugh or two. If i wanted to watch imbicilic family antics i'd rather watch the crap they have on UPN.

well i liked the show so much i FOUND OUT whenever it was on and watched it and told all my friends........

but alas they canceled it like 3 times so i had to d/l all the eppys to get re-run goodness =)

The satire and genius behing the Family Guy is vaguely reminiscient of that of the Critic. Now THAT was quality television. (And still is, on Comedy Central)

If you have a region-less DVD player, you can pick up the first 14 episodes from the UK. They released a 2 DVD set there late last year. I got my copy a week ago and it's great.

the problem is with time slots, i never know when its on. i would watch it regularly if they had a regular time slot.

why don't they cancel that king of the hill garbage and put FG in its place? KOTH has had maybe 5 funny moments in their entire history

I think they tried to target adults too quickly. It's really hard to get adults hooked on a cartoon.
The writers for the Simpsons were pretty smart. They got us hooked when we were kids by being Bart-centric then slowly evolved to being centered around Homer and his idiocy.

only because fox execs are killing the show.. they move it around constantly, i rarely know when its on. they should have played it after simpsons since xfiles is unrecoverably dead anyways. instead they suicide it against friends? wtf? friends of all shows.. they want it to die for some reason.

Its not cancelled yet!!!!!!!

On Thurs the 10th they are showing 4 episodes back to back 8pm-10 and on Thurs the 17th they starts showing new episodes again. Its not doing well cause Fox keeps moving and screwing with it. Its always either up against extremely popular shows or follows/leads really bad shows. Right now its doing both.
